Studie zum Daimler-Blog

Eine Diplomandin der Universität Amsterdam widmet sich in ihrer Arbeit dem Daimler-Blog. Im Rahmen der Arbeit führt sie eine Leserumfrage zum Daimler-Blog durch. Wenn Ihnen/Dir das Daimler-Blog bekannt ist, würde sie sich über eine Teilnahme (5-10min) freuen.

Actually, there is no better way of blog marketing than shown by HP. the company notices that its new high-end notebook “Dragon” doesn’t sell well. So they decide to give away 31 notebooks to top-bloggers and ask for individual competition campaigns. With a few thousond dollars at risk they have received 31 (absolutely free) campaigns, whoich in turn generated 380,000 incoming links, millions of readers and finally resulted in 250,000 competition participants. Congrats HP. It’s just a pitty that this strategy would be quite costly with cars… (though a dozen-Smarts-campaign might be worth a try, right?)

Corporate Twitter

On the Daimler-Blog I wrote on companies’ Twitter-ambitions lately. Urs just started the quest for a general definition of a “Corporate Microblog”. In relation to my definition of a corporate blog here my proposal:

A corporate microblog is a stream of short messages published through a standard microblogging service such as Twitter on behalf of a company by an individual employee or a group of employees. The publicized content is related to the company and directed to all or selected stakeholders. As well, the company features prominently as the initiator of the content and has the full copyright to all content published. Furthermore, a corporate microblog is updated regularly and used as one of the firm’s permanent online communication channels.

The Russian president Medvedev today started his Videoblog. I don’t understand completely what he is saying, but the fact alone is astonishing. For those who do not understand his words: you might just like to have a look at a president’s desk or computer desktop.

Defining “Corporate Blog”?

Together with Urs we have been thinking of a valid definition of a “Corporate Blog”. On the Commetrics-Blog he tries to differentiate different kinds of corporate blog engagements, e.g. in order to separate event blogs or blogs run by employees that are not directly controlled by the company. Here the current status:

“A corporate blog is run on behalf of a company to promote or discuss the company’s products/services, strategy or processes. As well, the company features prominently as the initiator of the content and has the full copyright to all content published on the weblog. Furthermore, a corporate blog is updated regularly and used as one of the  firm’s permanent online communication channels.”

Das Boeing Tanker-Blog

Es ist immer wieder spannend zu sehen, wo Firmen Blogs für diverse Ziele einsetzen. Boeing ist schon lange mit seinem Marketingmann Randy Tinseth in der Blogosphäre vertreten. Die Entscheidung der Air Force, einen Großauftrag für Tankflugzeuge an Airbus zu vergeben, hat die Firma bewogen, die Blogplattform auch für das Lobbying zu benutzen und das Blog „Tanker Facts“ aufzusetzen. This website is made available to the general public to express opinions regarding the Tanker competition and contract award. Dass das Verteidigungsministerium die Vergabe noch einmal überdacht hat, kann man wohl kaum auf das Blog zurückführen, dürfte aber meiner Meinung nach schon auch der engagierten Arbeit der Boeing-Kommunikatoren zuzuschreiben sein. Immerhin hat es das Blog mit lediglich 5 Beiträgen in 4 Monaten auf mehr als 60 Kommentare gebracht.

CeBIT establishes a blog

The most important German technology fair, the CeBIT in Hannover has just launched its new 01blog. It is supposed to blog on technology and related aspects, including the fun and culture side of CeBIT. I’m not sure wthether they will meet their target to become the German “Engadget“, but still: Good Luck!

Re-Launch – Design & Inhalte neu

So, nachdem auf dieser Domain lange Zeit Flaute herrschte, habe ich mich entschieden meine Blogging-Aktivitäten ein wenig zu restrukturieren und hier ein etwas persönlicheres Blog zu entwickeln. Ich beschäftige mich schon eine Weile mit Corporate Blogs und der Blogosphäre und möchte nun über diese Plattform ein wenig regelmäßiger in die Diskussionen einsteigen. Eventuell werde ich noch von meinen alten Blogs ein paar Beiträge herüberholen um das Archiv etwas zu füllen und eine Arbeitsgrundlage zu schaffen.
